Initial Consultation & Timeline:
Provides an opportunity to discuss the
college admission procedure in depth and
learn more about our clients’ needs.
Colleges the student is considering will be
discussed and a college admissions timeline
will be developed to reduce pre-college
stress.
Comprehensive Focus:
An inclusive package offering all of our
services. Students and parents will have
unlimited access to our consultants.
The Comprehensive Focus Includes:
Academic Evaluation:
A detailed review of academic history and
test scores is completed to ensure that the
proper colleges are being selected for
favorable admission results. Discussion
ensues regarding college entrance
difficulty. A collective decision will be
made to determine if standardized tests
should be retaken to better chances of
acceptance and/or scholarships.
College Search:
We will thoroughly investigate and discuss
colleges of interest, any back-up colleges,
colleges to reach for, and review each
college the student may be interested in
pursuing. Ultimately, we will conclude with
a narrowed list of colleges to achieve
admission. A thorough Personal College
Profile Report will be completed
including: 1) comparing colleges at a
glance, 2) advisor’s notes, and 3) student
synopsis. Also, for those students who have
not yet begun their college search, the
Student Profile, a thorough online
questionnaire, will lead to discovery of
which colleges may match the student’s
specific interests.
Essay/Personal Statement Assistance:
While
the Internet provides a wealth of resources,
finding relevant, accurate, and current
information about college essay advice can
prove to be a frustrating and time consuming
challenge. We will suggest revisions for
stronger clarity and offer in-depth
grammatical and sentence structure
corrections, avoiding plagiarism that is
abundant on the Internet. A current high
school English instructor or former
University
Professor will evaluate each essay.
Interview:
Many colleges hold important entrance
interviews with admission prospects, be it
with an alumni or college admission
professional. Colleges requiring an
interview regard it as one of the most
important deciding factors leading to
acceptance. Test question/answer periods
and tips to avoid nervousness will be
addressed, and attention will be given to
protocol.
Scholarship Search and Tuition Review:
Money for college is available and
achievable, from local and national
organizations, and from colleges
themselves. Collegiate Focus researches
applicable scholarship opportunities, help
is offered to complete the FAFSA (Free
Application for Federal Student Aid) and
ample time is given to avoid cramming for
deadlines. Once a student has decided upon a
college, further research is performed to
finalize the actual tuition cost which helps
to avoid first-semester tuition-bill
astonishment, as hidden charges and required
fees could appear for the first time.
Post-decision Consultation:
To further solidify academic and personal
success, pre-college advisement is offered.
Difficult incoming freshman topics are
discussed to help alleviate anxiety and
prepare for a triumphant freshman year.
Other Topics:
How to choose a major; guidance on obtaining
notable letters of recommendation; making
extra-curricular activities and volunteer
service work in your favor; any other
admission questions/concerns.
